The temperate climate of the island is caused by the interaction of the sea currents off the banks of the Sahara and the constant and gentle trade winds.
The temperatures on the coast vary between 19°C and 23°C, however, in the Valverde area, temperatures are cooler due to its altitude and northerly location. During most of the year, the winds are moderate to strong.
The difference between day and night time temperatures is noticeable. During the day, sun protection is definitely required since the fresh winds belie the strength of the sun and the amount of solar radiation that you may actually be receiving. Nights are usually cloudless with temperatures a few degrees lower, making a sweater or jacket necessary. |
