Local handicrafts continue to be a thriving activity. There are women who still hand spin and weave on original wooden looms using wool or strips of fabric to make mutlicoloured bedcovers, blankets and rugs, not to forget the popular "talegas" bags.
Mulberry wood, pine, beech and chestnut are usually the raw materials used by some artisans to carve utensils such as bowls and ladles, as well as
barrels, tongs to pick prickly pears and castanets, which they call "chácaras".
